Popular cosmetic surgeon Dr. Vicki Belo has apologized to Boy Abunda for reportedly insulting the television host when she appeared on an entertainment talk show in another network.

Belo sent a text message to Abunda saying she was sorry for offending him.

“I’d just like to apologize for the statement I made in Showbiz Central. I’m really sorry that I offended you. Hope you can accept my apology,” Belo said in the text message.

During the controversial TV guesting on Sunday, Belo said: “All I’d like to say is, if you want to look like Boy Abunda , go to Calayan, But if you want to look like Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual, come to Belo.”

Abunda is one of the endorsers of Calayan Surgicenter, a competitor of Belo Medical Group.

Abunda, who claimed that he and Belo were good friends, reacted to the cosmetic surgeon’s remarks. On Monday the TV host was emotional as he shared that his mother even called him to ask if he did something bad to Belo.

“Vicki, if you are watching, alam mo kahit kailan, hindi ako namuhunan sa gandang panlabas dahil wala ako noon,” Abunda said on “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon.”

“Alam mo, namuhanan ako ng sipag, tiyaga, dasal. At Vicki, wala akong ilusyong maganda, wala akong ilusyon. Pero wala din sinuman ang may karapatang manlait sa aking pagkatao,” he said.

The host also defended himself by saying that one doesn’t need good looks like Dantes in order to be happy.

“At mga kaibigan, hindi po tayo kasi kailangang maging kasing [gwapo] ni Dingdong para maging masaya at para maging mabuting tao,” Abunda added.

Friends defend Abunda

Abunda’s talents, Ai-Ai delas Alas and Mariel Rodriguez, agreed that Belo’s statement was below the belt and uncalled for.

“I think ‘yong effect noon ay hindi mganda for her. Siyempre manager ko si Boy, na-hurt ako for him,” delas Alas told “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon.”

The comedienne also said she would always love Abunda and defend the “king of talk show” from his detractors.

When asked to give a message to Belo, she said: “Kay doktora, next time kapag my ganoong comment, minsan iwasan na lang natin na makasakit ng kapwa.”

“Wowowee” co-host Rodriguez, on the other hand, also came to Abunda’s defense.

“Nakakaawa si Tito Boy. I never seen him that way. never… he was really hurt. His voice was cracking he was naiiyak talaga, umiiyak siya.

“‘Vicki is a friend,’ ‘yon ang laging words niya. ‘Why did she say that, for what?’ So bilang tao lang na nagmamahal kay Tito Boy, nasaktan ako para kay Tito Boy,” Rodriguez said.

The actress also maintained that her manager doesn’t deserve the insult, saying he is “beautiful inside and out.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Manny Calayan, owner of Calayan clinic, stressed that he gets endorsers not only based on their physical appearance but also their “inner beauty.”

“Boy is very effective. Simula ng kinuha namin siya as [endorser], lalo na ‘yong mga TFC subscribers, ‘yong fans ni Boy, pumunta dito kasi they love Boy. Sumama ang loob ko kasi si Boy alam naman nating respetado yan sa industriya,” Calayan said.

Ruffa Gutierrez, Abunda’s co-host on “The Buzz” and an endorser of Belo Medical Group, said she hopes that the two will soon settle the issue.

“Like what Ai-Ai said, life is short. Siyempre naging magkaibigan sila noon. Napakalapit nila. Para silang magkapatid, so, lahat ng magkapatid talagang nagkakaroon ng away,” Gutierrez said. Abs-CbnNews.com
