MANILA, Philippines – The inauguration of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III on Wednesday turned into a musical show as the biggest names in the music industry performed at Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

The national anthem was performed by no other than international singing sensation and “Glee” season 2 cast Charice.

The Philippine Madrigal Singers, accompanied by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, sang “Bayan Ko,” while “Minamahal Kong Bayan” was performed by APO Hiking Society.

Balladeer Christian Bautista performed Josh Groban’s hit “You Raise Me Up.”

The group who performed the inaugural song “Bagong Pilipinas” were composer Ogie Alcasid, Noel Cabangon, Jed Madela, Mae Paner, also known as Juana Change, Jim Paredes, Gary Valenciano and Regine Velasquez.

Velasquez also sang Aquino’s campaign song “Di Ka Nag-Iisa.”

Cabangon, the composer-singer, also performed his hits “Ako’y Isang Mabuting Pilipino” at “Kanlungan.”

Before the administration of oath to Aquino and Vice President Jejomar Binay, the Philharmonic Orchestra played a medley of folk songs.
