Charice: Banig is a legend, I hope to work with her someday

International young diva Charice said that she would be thrilled to have the chance to work with 1990s child singing sensation Josephine “Banig” Roberto.
“(Oo) kung mabibigyan kami ng opportunity, Banig — sana makapag-duet kami, kasi maraming tao ang nagsasabi na may pagkakapareho kami. Kasi magalaw din siya sa stage so nakakatuwa kapag magkakaroon kami ng duet.
In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Charice shared that she’s already heard of Banig’s powerful voice and performance. She was even told that she will be the next Banig.
“Opo, (kilala ko po). Marami pong nagsasabi na next daw po akong ganoon, next daw ako kay Banig, napapanood ko po siya,” Charice said.
The young diva said that when she heard Banig’s name she did a search on YouTube and watched her performances.
“Ang galing niya kasi medyo pinagkukumpara kami dahil sa actions, magalaw sa (stage) si Banig, okay po,” she added.
During the course of interview, Charice giggled when she heard that Banig is supporting her career and proud of her for the honor she’s giving to the Philippines country.
“Thank you po, kasi siyempre bata pa ako kilala ko na siya kasi naririnig ko na yung name niya. Kaya sobrang nagpapasalamat sa kanya; isa din po siya sa ini-idolo ko, thank you po,” Charice.
In a prior interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, US-based singer Banig said she hopes Charice would not go though similar bad experiences the former had when she was still a child singer.
“It’s tough for a kid you know…there’s a lot of pressure coming from the community and your peers. It’s a pretty heavy load when your whole country is rooting for you to succeed and represent the entire race. It’s not an easy show… that’s for sure,” explains Banig.
She also shared that when she was young, people were pretty tough on her and sometimes up to now they still are.
Banig, aside from being a professional singer is also a songwriter, so when Charice was asked if she’s willing to perform the compositions of Banig, Charice quickly said: “Siyepre naman po. Diyos ko si Banig kumbaga talagang legend na ‘yan, kaya siyempre po.”
