Gina’s 78-year-old mother Dory Ocura went adrift from their house in Tagaytay last Jan. 1. She was later found in Pasay City. “My mother, after two hours of sleep would wake up. We didn’t notice she was gone. Hinahanap namin mga 7 a.m. on that day. Somebody told us naghahanap daw ng sasakyan at gusto pumunta ng Baclaran. At nadapa daw. We were so worried,” Gina explained. She sought the help of her Kapamilya network and the police. Later in the evening she got a call that her mother was in Pasay under the care of Kris Chua. “When I saw her, I cried. I embraced her. Pasa pasa ang mata niya. Wala siyang alam.”

Gina is thankful to all the people who helped locate her mother. “Buti na lang Kapamilya ako. Doon mo talaga makikita ang support. Yong chief of police dito sa Tagaytay, they really tried. Maraming salamat sa inyo,” she added.

Lola Gets (fond name of Gina) is not just a brilliant actress. She, too, is a doting daughter to Nanay Dory. No wonder, she’s blessed.

A banner year for Sharon

2009 was a banner year for Sharon Cuneta. The Megastar capped the year by winning the Best Actress Award at the Metro Manila Film Festival. She dedicated the award to her beloved Yaya Loring who passed away days before the awards night. Sharon won the award for her sterling performance in Mano Po 6. The Megastar looks forward to another blissful 2010.

Sharon is one of the most awarded celebrities in local showbiz. She has 18 Best Actress trophies from almost every award giving body. This year, Sharon will be working on a mega movie project with The Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos. She is also set to launch her new magazine called Sharon at Home. The documentary film that will chronicle her life is in the offing. She celebrates her birthday with a concert on Jan. 12.

On the personal side, the actress is all set to adopt a child. We wish the Mega all the blessings that she deserves. She is one of the most generous people I have known. The next time you see her singing, watch her intently and you will see how she gives her all.

2009 a big year for Angel

2009 was a big year for Angel Locsin. In her Twitter account, Angel summed up everything: “Sarap balikan ang mga nangyari. Mga pangyayari na nagpatibay sa akin.”

She had a monster hit of a teleserye in Only You opposite Sam Milby. She also got a nomination in the Best Single Performance by an Actress for her portrayal in Lobo at the International Emmy Awards. Her Shop and Share Project which benefited Ondoy and Pepeng victims is a success. But the happy events in her life was punctuated with her breakup from longtime boyfriend Luis Manzano. Until now, Angel is mum about the real reason for the break-up. She and Luis have remained friends. Angel is the big crush of CNN Hero of the Year Efren Peñaflorida. Angel is set to do a TV series Si Kokey at Ako opposite Vhong Navarro.

This is another girl who is so blessed because she shares her blessings with people and the world. She lives up to her name Angel!
