MANILA, Philippines – Star cager James Yap is still hoping that a miracle will save his marriage to the President’s sister, actress-TV host Kris Aquino.

In an interview with entertainment journalist Ricky Lo, the star player said he sent flowers and text messages to Kris before the latter and their kids, Joshua and Baby James Yap Jr., went abroad.

“Sana may miracle na maganap,” he said.

Yap maintained that he will still try to save his marriage with Kris.

“As I said, I will fight to save our marriage. Gagawin ko ang lahat para ma-save ang marriage namin at mabuo uli ang family namin. I won’t give up until I have done my best and I have done everything that I possibly could,” he added.

The cager said that he’s just hoping that his wife would have time to relax and think about her decision.

“It’s the first time for Kris to take a long vacation, away from the intrigues. She was under so much stress because of the campaign. Now that she’s stress-free, I hope that she will have time to think, sana mapagtimbang-timbang n’ya ang pangyayari at maliwanagan siya at pagbalik niya ay mag-iba ang desisyon niya… That’s what I’m hoping and praying for. Sana may milagrong mangyari.”

Yap denied rumors that he is a womanizer. He also dispelled reports linking his wife to several men like Senator Francis Escudero, Makati Mayor JunJun Binay and young stars Gerald Anderson and Coco Martin. “Hindi ganyan ang asawa ko,” he said.

Yap has refused to give an interview after Kris said she is firm about her decision not to reunite with her hubby.

Aquino said she asked her lawyers to initiate the legal actions to end her marriage with the the star cager.

In a statement read by the Buzz host Boy Abunda, Marcos Ochoa Serapio and Tan (the law firm retained by Kris Aquino) said it will take the “necessary steps at the soonest possible time.”

“Ms. Kris Aquino has recently announced that she has decided to end her marriage to Mr. James Yap and asked us to initiate the appropriate proceedings for the purpose she believes that it is for the best interest of all that’s concerned, especially her children,” the law firm said.

The law firm also asked the public to “respect the privacy of the parties and let the legal process take its course.”

On Monday (July 12), ABS-CBN News tried to get the side of Yap after his practice at Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay but he refused to grant interview.

Yap evaded the news team by going out of the stadium through the backdoor.
