You’ve witnessed him conduct bold one-on-one interviews and you’ve seen him ask the most controversial questions to the hottest personalities in town. Now, the country’s King of Talk, Boy Abunda, enters a whole new concept of discussion as he goes up-front in ABS-CBN’s newest reality talk show “Bottomline” starting November 28 (Saturday night) after Banana Split.

Boy Abunda is considered one of the most credible hosts on Philippine television today. His followers have seen how he delves into the very heart of the matter/issues and how he deals with diverse kinds of personalities. He has posted the toughest questions and has been able to get frank and honest answers from his guests. These strong points of Boy gave the network the idea of adding a different twist to the usual concept of talk shows. Thus, “Bottomline” is born.

Vince Rodriguez, Bottomline’s Production Manager revealed that the central concept of the show is Boy Abunda himself. “The show didn’t exist outside of Tito Boy, he was really the central figure. It couldn’t have gone to anyone else. He’s really the central concept of the show.” He added, “He’s really passionate about it. He’s very excited because this is something that he really wants to do. He’s an excellent conversationalist. He likes talking to people. He likes picking the brains of people. And he’s very well-read. He watches a lot of news and current affairs shows. He likes learning. So I think he enjoys the interviews because he also learns from them.”

Pear Clemente, the show’s headwriter also shared the same thought.”Tito Boy is a ‘hybrid’ kind of host. He can interview people from different walks of life. Surprisingly, he unfolds the ‘human’ side of his interviewee baring the different aspect of that certain person.”

“Bottomline” is a reality-talk show which involves not only Tito Boy, but also a group of opinionated people with different stances on a subject. They are called the ‘bottomliners’, Bottomline’s executive producer Apples Dela Vega disclosed. “We have a pool of bottomliners. Nagpapalit yu’n depending on the guest. We get six to eight bottomliners from the pool for every episode and through Tito Boy’s interview with the guest, their questions and other issues are answered.”

The show also gives the viewers the privilege to see the whole process of the story development– from conceptualization, to brainstorming, to actual execution of the interview and ending with a post-mortem or assessment of the interview. Boy acts as the moderator of the whole discussion. The bottomliners share what they want to know about the guest. Tito Boy throws in the questions gathered from the brainstorming through no-holds barred interview with the invited guest. Through a monitor, the bottomliners are able to witness the interview. After the session, Boy and the bottomliners assess the whole activity.

In a nutshell, these chosen people from the different sectors of the society are considered as the creators of the program with their strong and varied opinions and questions.

hello tito boy – i find your program the bottom line very interesting. it reflects a realistic opinion, personality and character of your guest. especially your public servants and politicians guests it gives me a chance of evaluating the person if he is capable or would jut be a mediocre on his job. anyhow if you may as a person who is more concern with our country aviation industry, maybe you could invite someone in authority who could really give us some answers as to where is this very important industry in our is going. pal went on strike, fedex left the country, and some other aviation related company also pack up and left. at present lufthanza technique a foreign company is now a succesful maintenance and repair station in our country utilizing the excellent skill of the filipinos. i believe tito boy the aviation industry could really boost the economy of the philippines considering among the best aeronautic engineers and technician in the world are filipinos. millions of filipinos travel by plane but we never talk so much about the aviation industry in the philippines. please give this some research. for your information i wrote a senator and speaker of the house about this topic several times but it appears it does not interest them. if we want tourism to proper in the philippines let us start first to look into this. majority of our tourist travels by air right. thank you for your time reading this – more power to your program and god bless the philippines.

  8. Hello po Tito Boy! I’m a big fan of your show The Bottomline! I’m a TFC subscriber and I always watch your show even though it’s being shown late. I just finished watching the interview that you did with Gov. L Ray Villafuerte and It made me realized that even though Camsur is well known, it is still one of the poorest province. I’m from Caramoan and I have family and friends from Caramoan and they told me that he kicked-out alot of people from their land. Some have been paid little or took their land by force. I think that was just horrible. Also when your guest bottomliner asked the question why Caramoan is one of the poorest province, he didn’t really answer the question. I love Bicol and I just can’t stand not to say what I feel about this issue. Sorry about this Tito Boy, but that’s just what I feel. I love your show and I think It makes me more understand the love of our Filipino brothers and sisters and how they really want to make our country masagana and corrupt free! More power to you and I wish you happiness and days with alot of smiles.

Great Interviewer. The best of all the best in the Philippines. You can see how he studied every bit of the topics and the interviewee. His shows were not just for entertainment, it is more of informing every Filipino the truth behind curiosity. I adore your wits. I hope you’ll stay in this business for as long as you can and there will be more like you in the future. You deserve every second of my time.

    Hi Boy!

The Pampanga SM shooting incident has hugged the headlines for days and we were just sad how the incident has been treated simply as a tabloid fare. The press sniffed an opportunity to sensationalize the whole tragedy and just gorged it. It was tragic that two young boys died and forever lost what was a very promising future in store for them given their potentials. But it is more tragic that we missed to comprehend that the whole tragedy was an indictment to us as a people. No one was asking the question that needed to be asked. Why did things happen as the did? I guess because we were afraid we would find out, we were all party to the crime.

Jake, the 13 year old boy in the tragedy, in one of his entries in his Facebook said ” Don’t judge me until you have tried to be in my shoes”. That is what this letter is all about Boy. We were wondering, if you could use your program to put people in Jake’s shoes.

We are sad that “Ladlad” has kept silent on the whole matter especially since a lot of people have reduced the whole incident as an issue of “morality” (just read the comments on facebook). We would not like Jake and Jonathan’s death to end up to nothing. If there is one thing we learned from the tragedy, it is that silence makes us accomplish to our own demise.

    Power be to us all.

    Dear Boy,
Napanood ko ang interview mo sa Sonny Angara ng Aurora Province. Nagwork ako sa Libya ten years.. Wala na si Gaddafi after 42 years..

  13. MaryRose Candare says:

The Bottomline is a sensible, free-spirited and socially relevant show. But what I find especially interesting is how it brings to the forefront issues and advocacies beyond the names and tags of its guests.

If there is one public servant I would like to see on the show more than anybody else, it would Sec. Mar Roxas whose name, to my mind, speaks of integrity and dignity of public service.

On a note re advocacy, I hope Bottomline could feature someone who works for the UNICEF or like organizations devoted to the care, rescue and upliftment of orphaned, poor as well as abandoned and abused children. Through the show, I hope to learn the ways in which a regular person such as myself could volunteer for and support such noble cause. May awareness spread and beyond that, may more people be inspired to concretely do their share.

Please use your stage to bring to the surface the urgent alarm regarding child abuse and like tragedies. GOD bless!

  14. bebe says:

I truly madly deeply love bottomline. It’s a show about Reality, Life, Truth, Talent, Politics, Environment, People and etc… It is a show about everything which caught my attention.

If there is one person i would love to be interviewed and view on screen that would be Mr. Piolo Pascual. I want to know What, Who He is as a person and the never ending rumors concerning His gender. I want to hear his straight answer. Why this issues doesn’t stop, if there is truth that he is gay as others judged him. For personally i love Piolo regardless of who he is.

Thank you so much and May the good Lord bless your show!
