With a brilliant body of work as a performer, Martin Nievera has weathered the storms of his showbiz and personal lives to come out as more mature, more endearing and more impressive. He now celebrates 25 years of his showbiz life with a concert that promises to leave a legacy and an inspiration to his fans.

Martin started his career in 1982 with his first album, Take One. Since then, he went on to conquer not just the Philippines, but other countries as well.

For his 25th anniversary celebration, Martin released a double-CD album from EMI Music, Milestones, with 25 of the most meaningful songs to him.

He also makes a big comeback in the concert scene, ready to entertain his denizens of fans as he reunites with the Crossover team, with Martin Nievera XXV. The show will be held on Feb. 1, 8 p.m. at the Araneta Coliseum.

For XXV, Martin will sing the most memorable songs of his career from Be My Lady to his most recent recordings in the album Milestones. In a span of 25 years, Martin has released 32 chart-topping albums, from which he will choose the songs to be performed in his much-awaited concert.

“These songs will be given a fresh twist,” he added. “I will also sing some songs I’ve recorded but haven’t sung live before. The lineup is still to be completed. What’s for sure is that it’s going to be hard not to forget some songs.”

For Martin’s anniversary-cum-birthday concert, he will share the stage with sons Robin and Ram Nievera. Martin will celebrate his 46th on Feb. 5.

“I was actually shocked when Robin texted me and said: can we guest in your concert?” Martin shared. “I think the good reviews and the standing ovation they got during Pops’ recent concert encouraged them to give it another try. Robin asked if he can play On The Right Track (one of Martin’s original songs), but I still don’t know what will really happen. You guys have to keep guessing for now.”

“As for the other guests, I don’t want to announce it, because I want you to watch my concert because of me and not because of my guests. I don’t want anyone to think that I’m having guests to bring in more people. If I have a guest, then it’s a surprise, it’s a bonus for the people who will buy my tickets. I want people to watch my show because they want to see Martin Nievera. Ang yabang, ‘no?”

On Feb. 5, Martin will fly back to Las Vegas to prepare for a series of shows with the Society of Seven. Martin will perform alongside the Society of Seven and Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha at the Flamingo Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their show will run from Feb. 13 to April 13. Martin will temporarily replace Mark Escueta who decided to go back to school.

“For that show, I’ll be doing songs by Josh Groban, Johnny Mathis, and songs my dad (Bert Nievera) used to sing when he was with the group,” Martin shared. “They also want me to do Elton John and some impression.”

After his gig with the Society of Seven, Martin will be back in the Philippines in April to do a provincial tour of Martin Nievera XXV, which will have shows in Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Baguio and Pampanga.

Musical direction for Martin Nievera XXV is by Louie Ocampo while stage direction is by Rowell Santiago. Gerard Salonga will conduct the 28-piece FILharmoniKa Orchestra.

Martin Nievera XXV is produced by XVR Events and 105.1 Crossover and co-presented by Petron XCS. Official residence is the Discovery Suites in Ortigas.
