MANILA - Actress Angel Locsin is excited to be one of the nominees at the 37th International Emmy Awards for her performance in ABS-CBN's hit television series "Lobo (The Wolf).”

In a phone interview with “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon," Locsin said it is an honor to represent not only the Philippines but Asia to the prestigious competition.

"Para sa akin 'yong ma-recognize ka bilang isang artista, malaking bagay na 'yon…. tapos ma-represent mo pa 'yong Pilipinas at Asia. I'm very proud to be part of ‘Lobo,’" Locsin said.

Locsin's performance as a she-wolf in the teleserye merited a nomination under the best performance by an actress category.

The popular Filipino actress is competing against Emma De Caunes ("Night Birds," CHEZ WAM, France); Cecilia Suarez ("Capadocia," HBO Latin America Originals, Mexico); and Julie Walters ("A Short Stay in Switzerland", BBC, United Kingdom).

Locsin said she is happy that Filipino artists are continuously getting recognition abroad.

She said: "Kasi ang mga Filipino ibang klaseng mag-trabaho. Feeling ko sila, hindi nila kaya ang trabaho natin kung paano tayo mag-trabaho kaya dapat lang na makilala tayo kasi iba ang galing at talento ng mga Filipino. Sa lahat ng tao na sumuporta at nagtiwala, maraming salamat."

"Kahit Isang Saglit (A Time For Us)," which was topbilled by Filipino actor Jericho Rosales and Malaysian actress Carmen Soo, was nominated under the telenovela category.

The drama series is a landmark project aired both in the Philippines and Malaysia. It was shot in both countries, marking ABS-CBN's first collaboration with a Malaysian production group, Double Vision.

An excited Rosales said he is looking forward to attending the awarding ceremony in November in New York City. The actor said that like him, the show's director, Jerry Sineneng, is also thrilled.

"We are all very happy… lahat kami ay nagbabatian dito. Everybody is excited and happy. I'm happy," he said.

The actor said he is dedicating the TV series' nomination to the late director Gilbert "Manong" Perez, who died while they were shooting "Kahit Isang Saglit."

ABS-CBN made history in 2007 when its late night news program, "Bandila," earned an International Emmy nomination, beating some 800 entries worldwide in the News and Current Affairs categories. It was the first Philippine newscast to be nominated in the competition.

This year’s winners will be revealed during the gala night on November 23 at Hilton Hotel.
