MANILA, Philippines - Actress Yayo Aguila announced Sunday that she has called it quits with William Martinez, her husband of 25 years.

She said, however, that she's not closing her doors to the actor, especially since no annulment has been filed yet.

Mabuti talaga siyang asawa. Nagkataon lang talaga na kailangan din namin munang magkaroon ng space apart from each other kasi marami pa siyang gustong gawin," Aguila told "Paparazzi," TV-5's celebrity talk show.

Aguila denied all rumored reasons surrounding their split, such as a third party, financial problems and Martinez' alleged alcohol and drug issues.

Kids knew first

In her interview at "Paparazzi," Aguila shared that she first consulted her children before approaching Martinez, since she believed that her husband would understand her situation.

So sila talaga 'yong una kong kinausap. At saka siyempre alam kong sila ang unang ma-aaffect diba?"

Aguila thanked her children for understanding their parents' situation. She also described her 25-year marriage with Martinez as "happy and fruitful."

"Sobrang nagpapasalamat lang talaga ako na kung meron man kaming na-accomplish sa buhay namin bilang mag-asawa, nakapagpalaki kami ng sobrang babait at mapag-intindi at matitinong bata na kahit anong pinagdaanan namin ni William nitong taon na 'to o noong mga nakaraang taon, talagang tinanggap nila nang maluwag sa puso," she said.

Meanwhile, the actress has this message for Martinez. "Hi, I'm glad we're really good friends. I'll see you later."
