MANILA, Philippines – Local celebrities are now doing their part to change the future of the country by casting their votes.
On Monday stars like Nikki Gil, Mariel Rodriguez, and Lea Salonga went early to their respective polling precincts to vote for their next leaders.
Salonga who’s been very busy doing shows abroad said that she really decided to fly back to Manila just to be part of the country’s first automated elections.
The singer also smiled when the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machine accepted her ballot at her precinct at La Salle Zobel in Ayala Alabang.
Also spotted at the Alabang precinct was El Shaddai leader Brother Mike Velarde, who urged all Filipinos to be part of the historic elections. “Pilipinas Got Talent” judge and former ABS-CBN president Freddie Garcia and Muntinlupa congressional candidate Dong Puno are also set to vote at their designated precincts in Alabang.
In Quezon City, vice mayoral candidate Aiko Melendez is set to cast her vote at barangay Capitol Hills. Melendez is in the ticket of mayoral bet Mike Defensor.
With her lucky rosary, Melendez bared that she didn’t sleep last night. She also lost her voice after attending numerous sorties. Comedian-host Arnell Ignacio, meanwhile, sent information that three barangays (Masambong, Paltok and San Antonio) in Quezon City District 1 are having problems with defective PCOS machines.
Other stars like Phoemela Barranda and Ruffa Gutierrez are now gearing to cast their vote. Gutierrez is an active supporter of administration candidate Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro.
