In spite of doubts that she could not do justice to the role, Bangs Garcia accepted to do the upcoming afternoon drama series, Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal for fear of losing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. “Tingin ko nga po sabi nila hilaw pa ako and I really think madami pa akong dapat matutunan as an actress,” she explained yesterday on The Buzz. “But then I realized the opportunity, and matagal ko na po itong pinangarap. I just promised myself that I will really try my best para hindi ko po ma-disappoint sina Ma’m Charo (Santos Concio, ABS-CBN president) Ms. Mariole (Alberto, Star Magic Head), Mr. M. (Johnny Manahan, Star Magic founder) and Direk Chito Roño.”

The dusky actress admitted that initial taping for Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal proved to be a real challenge because aside from being scared of Direk Chito, she was also shooting for the current Precious Hearts Romances Presents: My Cheating Heart. “Noong una po natakot talaga ako,” began Bangs. “Before taping parang tensyonado po ako lalo na nung first day talagang nataranta ako (kasi) hindi ko pa po talaga nabasa ‘yung tatlong scripts that time kasi I was also taping for Precious Hearts, so I was really trying my best. So on the set pinag-aralan ko talaga lahat but then sometimes we skipped.” However, Bangs said that she was able to perform better the following day and is now hoping to become a better actress through the guidance of the highly respected director, Direk Chito.

When host Boy Abunda asked Bangs which she prefers—money, love or honor, she chose love. “May prinsipyo po talaga akong tao but then sa ngalan po ng pag-ibig lahat kaya pong gawin ng tao.”

Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal also stars Sid Lucero and Rayver Cruz, and will premiere today, January 25, after Wowowee.
