MANILA, Philippines Actor-host Luis Manzano has finally admitted that he is courting former sweetheart actress Angel Locsin again.

In a message he sent to "The Buzz" host Ruffa Gutierrez, Manzano confirmed that he is doing his best to win back the heart of Locsin.

"I'm trying to win her back and make up for my mistakes in the past. Na-realize ko she's a good girl worth fighting for," Manzano said.

Gutierrez even revealed that Manzano started to think of pursuing Locsin again while he was shooting "In My Life" in New York.

"Siguro, marami pa lang siyang iniisip noon and he just want to be sure of himself," Gutierrez added.

In an interview with Entertainment Live last Saturday (January 9), Manzano said that he is hoping to have a fresh start with his former love.

"I would like to think na we're working on it," Manzano said. "[Am I] Happy? Ako, I am. Hopefully naman, siya din. In general, we are working on it."

No competition

Manzano reportedly became persistent in wooing Locsin again after reports surfaced that 2009 CNN Hero of the Year Efren Peñaflorida was pursuing the actress.

But in a previous interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Locsin shot down speculations that there's an on-going battle between her new suitor and former boyfriend Manzano.

"Wala namang competition. Kami naman ni Efren, sinabi ko naman mas maganda kung maging friends muna kami. Kilalanin muna ang isa't isa ng maayos para kung may makita siyang hindi magandang ugali sa akin ay makapag-back-out siya agad," Locsin told abs-cbnNEWS.com.

She added that she wouldn’t want to give anybody false hopes, especially Peñaflorida, who gained international recognition for his efforts in educating out-of-school Filipino youth.

Locsin also assured the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year she will always have her support.

"Nandito naman ako, at sinusuportahan ko ang project niya [para] sa mga kabataan. Kailan lang, nilabas ko ang mga kabataan kasama sila,” she said.

Besides, Locsin said Manzano does not feel threatened by Peñaflorida.

Locsin also said she is glad that she and the young actor are now on speaking terms again.

"Katulad ng sinabi ko ... fresh start. At least okay kami. Well, may konting ilang...pero hindi na kami masyadong nande-deadma. At least, okay 'yong relasyon ko sa lahat. Okay ang pasok ng 2010," she added.

Locsin is currently engaged in her upcoming series "Kokey @ Ako", while Manzano stars in ABS-CBN's "Your Song Presents: My Last Romance" with Toni Gonzaga.

He will also be hosting ABS-CBN's upcoming talent show "Pilipinas Got Talent" with international performer Billy Crawford.
